Bio

Big, bad beauty Emily Braden covers a lot of ground. Whether she’s singing with a symphony or fronting a world-class trio, Braden has the innate ability to win the heart of any audience with her powerhouse vocals and striking stage presence. Winner of New York City’s prestigious "Best of the Best" Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, Braden’s signature sound is an effortless blend of jazz and soul. Her knock-out debut album Soul Walk is composed of high-energy originals and "flipped-out" jazz standards. Producer Misha Piatigorsky says, “As a singer, Emily has no boundaries. She gives me goose bumps.” Soul Walk caught the attention of dancer Hillary Marie Michael and has since been turned into a collaborative revue featuring Braden with her trio and a team of tap dancers.

Braden has performed at notable NYC venues such as the Blue Note Jazz Club (Late Night Groove Series), Birdland Jazz Club, le poisson rouge, BAMCafe and Sleep No More as well as on international festival circuits. She currently has a monthly residency at Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem. Braden was selected by the US Embassy to travel to Burkina Faso, West Africa as part of the Arts Envoy program where her quartet closed out the Jazz a Ouaga Festival with a standing ovation. She is a featured vocalist with a number of groups including The Sketchy Orkestra and the Matt Parker Trio. Her group Double Bass, Double Voice released their debut album in February 2017.

See Braden live and she’ll make you a believer. This girl is smokin’, smokin’ hot.

About Richard Padrón:

Richard Padrón is an accomplished composer and guitarist known for his versatility, virtuosity and ability to blend in with almost any ensemble across a wide variety of genres. He has strong Afro-Cuban roots that color his compositions while still retaining his identity as a composer. His music has been described as deceptively simple and easy on the ear, yet very absorbing with its complex harmonies.

He began playing guitar at age 12 and studied privately until age 20. His musical career took a turn for the better when he was accepted to the prestigious conservatory, New World School of the Arts in Miami, at age 16. Richard became a part of the professional music scene in Miami before graduating from high school, working with players twice his age. In the words of the great Paquito D'Rivera, "Richard Padrón, on electric and acoustic guitars, writes music in a very particular way, using unusual melodic, rhythmic and harmonic approaches. His guitar playing is compelling, powerful and passionate.”

As a composer, Richard has a growing reputation as the go-to man for film scoring within the Indie scene - having scored four independent short films in the past year alone. His ability to compellingly capture a story through music crosses all genres, but he maintains his unique essence. Currently he is working on his debut record due sometime in 2018. Richard was born in Cuba, raised in Miami, and currently works and resides in New York City.
